DAY 2 ACCRA – SHAI GAME/AKOSOMBO DAM
Breakfast and check-out
Depart Accra to Akosombo. Stop en route at the Shai Game Reserve, home to several animals such as antelopes, green monkeys and baboons.Savor the expansive savannah grassland and woodland and have a memorable experience bird watching the Senegal parrot, swallow-tailed bee-eater, Vieillot’s barbet, piapiac and the red-shouldered cuckoo shrike. Trek for two hours and explore the ancient caves that provided sanctuary for the ancestors of the inhabitants, the Shai people
Continue to Akosombo for a guided tour of the hydroelectric dam which is situated on the Volta Lake, one of the largest man-made lakes in the world covering an area of 8,502km2. The dam supplies electricity to Ghana and other neighboring countries.

Join a motorized mini boat for an idyllic cruise on the Volta River to the hydro plant site,past picturesque hamlets and villages huddling on the banks of this great river which transverses all of Ghana.

DAY 3 AKOSOMBO – CAPE COAST
Breakfast
Depart Akosombo and arrive Cape Coast in the Central Region. Go on a conducted tour of the Cape Coast Castle built by the Swedes in 1652 and later taken over by the British. This Castle served as the seat of the former colonial administration of the Gold Coast (now Ghana) till 1877 when the capital was relocated to Accra.It also houses the West African Historical Museum. See the slave quarters and Palaver Hall where slaves were bargained for and sold.

Proceed for a comprehensive guided tour of the Elmina Castle, built by the Portuguese in 1482. Thispremier European structure built in Sub-Saharan Africa hasdistinct architectural features.

DAY 4
Breakfast
Visit the Kakum National Park. Go on a morning walk of the Kuntan Trail with its countless medicinal trees. For the young at heart experience the Canopy Walkway suspended 100 feet from the forest floor for a panoramic view of the flora and fauna of the remaining vestiges of the rainforest.

View the resident crocodiles as you enjoy your meals.

Drive along the coast through several fishing villages and coconut-lined beaches.
